Da Zona ao Mundo – From the Neighbourhood to the World is a cultural relations project that transforms urban neighbourhoods in Maputo into spaces for international musical co-creation.

It brings together 30 young people from KaMaxaquene, KaLhamankulu, KaMubukwana and KaMavota – four of the most vulnerable districts in Maputo – to record sounds from their communities using mobile phones, receive training in digital music production, and co-create original tracks with European producers through virtual residencies.

The project will develop Maputo's first Participatory Sound Map, an online platform where each sound is geolocated and accessible via QR codes installed in public spaces. The project culminates in an open-air festival at Jardim Tunduru, featuring live performances and live streaming.

By combining digital innovation, youth empowerment, community participation, and Africa-Europe cultural collaboration, the project creates a sustainable model for cultural relations that can be replicated in other African cities.
